My Stay at Gran Meliá Iguazú: A Luxurious Escape by the Falls

The moment I stepped into the lobby of Gran Meliá Iguazú, I was already in awe. The panoramic views of the Iguazú Falls from the lobby’s huge windows are absolutely jaw-dropping. The hotel is perfectly situated right inside Iguazú National Park, so it feels like you’re staying in the heart of nature, yet with all the luxury and comfort you could wish for.

The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were super welcoming and friendly. They even handed me a refreshing drink, which was a nice touch after a long flight.

A Room with a View

I stayed in a Deluxe Room with a view of the falls, and it was pure paradise. The room was spacious and modern, with large windows that framed the iconic Iguazú Falls like a living painting. There was something magical about waking up, lying in bed, and hearing the distant sound of the waterfalls.

The room itself had everything I needed: a super comfy bed, an in-room safe, air conditioning, and even a mini bar stocked with local Argentine drinks. It felt like the perfect balance of comfort and luxury, with a hint of nature thrown in thanks to the wood accents and earthy tones.

Unwinding by the Pool

After settling into my room, I headed to the outdoor pool, and let me tell you, it’s the place to be. The pool is right on the edge of the jungle, and the view of the falls from there is incredible. It was the perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The pool itself is huge, and there are plenty of lounge chairs where you can kick back and enjoy the view.

One of my favorite parts of staying at Gran Meliá Iguazú was the dining experience. The hotel has several fantastic restaurants, but I ate most of my meals at the Los Rios restaurant, which overlooks the falls. The food was incredible!

For breakfast, there was a buffet spread that had everything you could imagine: fresh fruits, pastries, hot dishes, and an amazing coffee selection (which, as an Argentine, I can tell you was top-notch). Lunch and dinner were just as delicious, with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. I had some of the best argentine steak of my life, paired with a glass of rich Malbec.

Exploring the Jungle and Falls

Since the hotel is located inside Iguazú National Park, getting to the falls is super easy. The park has its own private entrance for hotel guests, so you don’t have to deal with the crowds at the main entrance. It felt like I had the falls almost to myself, which was pretty amazing.

The walkways around the hotel are also fantastic for exploring the surrounding rainforest. I spent a few hours hiking through the trails, spotting wildlife and admiring the breathtaking views. You can hear the roar of the falls in the distance, and it’s almost surreal how close you feel to nature.

Relaxing at the Spa

After a day of exploring the falls and the park, I decided to treat myself to a spa day at the hotel’s Yvyra Spa. And I’m so glad I did. The spa is tranquil and peaceful, and the treatments were absolutely relaxing. I opted for a deep tissue massage to ease my muscles after all the hiking, and it was blissful. I also spent some time in the sauna and hydrotherapy pool, which were perfect for unwinding and letting go of all the stress.
